Innovator Details

Innovator Amit Doshi from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, was appreciated and supported by GIAN and the Honey Bee Network for entrepreneur development and feedback for improved technology for his rainwater harvesting system. Amit quit his well-paid corporate job in the waste management sector to jump into sustainable technology to make a difference. Today he has a successful startup company YIM NeeRain Pvt. ltd, that saves around 60,000 liters of water by rainwater harvesting.

Innovation Details

After quitting his corporate job, Amit Doshi diligently sought a startup idea. He researched for a while in different fields of sustainable environment, but the only proposal that left an impression on his mind was rainwater harvesting. After learning about the problems the government and local people faced in water conservation, he developed a product that could resolve all the issues and gaps of conventional water harvesting systems. Succeeding in research, creativity, and hard work, Amit closed in with a tangible solution of affordable and maintenance-free Rainwater harvesting. He successfully launched his startup NeeRain Pvt. Ltd in the year 2018. The NeeRain water harvesting device overcomes all the issues related to traditional water harvesting systems, such as simple and easily installable devices, cost-effectiveness, and minimum to no maintenance. The NeeRain system is a portable device that can be attached to the pipes collecting water from the rooftop and further channelizing it to the ground. It is a two-stage filtration process in which fresh, clean, and pure rainwater is collected when it passes out of the filtration system. NeeRain has created awareness about the global water crises and empowered the common people to live water-secure lives. Amit’s NeeRain device has won awards at different levels, including CII’s National Award for Excellence in Water Management in the innovative water-saving product category.

TECHNOLOGY SUPPORTED UNDER

Gramin Navonmesh Protsahan

Gujarat Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network (GIAN) and Small Industries Development Bank (SIDBI) are working on a project “Gramin Navonmesh Protsahan”. The project aims to strengthen the innovation ecosystem and provide support to innovations from and for grassroots across the country. The selected projects get support for investment funds for stimulating commercialization. The support is provided in the form of a soft loan with a 5% interest rate.
