A student innovator Manish Patel innovated a battery-operated bike that will not allow the rider to ride without a helmet and after drinking alcohol. The Honey Bee Network and GIAN governed this innovation. The innovation is unique and has been appreciated by many innovators. GIAN helped the innovator with marketing and participation in different events for more visibility. The innovation is with advanced technology and is successfully prototyped.
Innovation Details
So many youngsters often ride bikes without wearing helmets and after drinking alcohol. Being a young innovator, Manish thought of innovating a device with a bike so that if a rider is not wearing a helmet or is under the influence of alcohol, the bike will not run. Manish then fabricated his circuits for a cycle with the dynamo attached. The sensors present in the circuit detect the faces and smell alcohol, so if the rider is not wearing a helmet or is under the influence of alcohol, the bike will not start. It will greatly help to prevent drunk driving and accident casualties. The bike prototype is ready but yet to commercialize as the innovator needs more help with design inputs, manufacturability, and robustness of the functionality. The innovation has been successfully presented at the IIC’s People’s Festival of Innovation.

Gramin Navonmesh Protsahan
Gujarat Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network (GIAN) and Small Industries Development Bank (SIDBI) are working on a project “Gramin Navonmesh Protsahan”. The project aims to strengthen the innovation ecosystem and provide support to innovations from and for grassroots across the country. The selected projects get support for investment funds for stimulating commercialization. The support is provided in the form of a soft loan with a 5% interest rate.
