| Details Of Innovation | At the time of flowering of groundnut plant, chances of aphid infestation are very high. Due to this, the spike of plants is adversely affected. Chili crop is affected by "kokadva" disease. This disease is spread by white fly and other insects. It destroys leaves, flowers and fruits and as a result the entire crop is a waste. In the brinjal crop, heliothis can infest anytime and harm the crop by boring the fruits and plants (doonkh). As a remedy, Pithabhai Merambhai Patar pounds one-and-a-half kilogram of custard apple (Annona squamosa) leaves and puts the mash in one litre of water. Then this solution is filtered. Also 500 gram of dry chilis (Capsicum annuum) is soaked in one litre of water overnight. For preparing the dry chili decoction, chilis grown around Veraval town are suggested as these are very acrid. One kilogram of neem (Azadirachta indica) fruits are also pounded and soaked in two litres of water for 12 hours. The three decoctions are then mixed with 10 litres of water and sprayed with a pump on the crop. Within two to three days of the spraying, the infestation of sucking insects, heliothis and aphid is completely controlled. |
