Ingredients	The middle portion of the pump body of the hand pump is removed, which is prone to heavy tear and wear. The unused liner to a length of 1 foot from an old oil engine is removed for replacement by welding it with the hand pump.This liner is made of steel cast iron which is harder and better able to withstand the wear and tear caused due to the movement of the piston rod.
Details Of Innovation	In the hand pump operated manually the tear and wear on the inner sides of the pump body and piston rod which is coupled with a leather washer is high. Normally this will last for about 5 years or so. Subsequently the whole assembly is to be redone. In order to minimize the wear and tear of the pump body and to prolong its useful life from 10 to 50 years, an innovation was evolved by Sri.T. Selvan of Lathe Engineering Works at Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu. The middle portion of the pump body of the hand pump which is prone to heavy tear and wear is removed. The unused liner is removed to a length of 1 foot from an old oil engine for replacement by welding it with the hand pump as shown in the Fig.1 This liner is made of steel cast iron which is hard and able to better withstand the wear and tear caused due to the movement of the piston rod. This will facilitate smooth functioning with crease serving as a lubricant to prolong the safe life of the pump body for a period of 10 - 40 years depending upon the usage of the hand pump.
