Details Of Innovation One should be careful before storing the grains in the granary. Due to the store grain pests, the keeping quality of grain deteriorates. The exiguous holes are observed on the grains making them unfit for consumption. Due to wetness in mahua (Madhuca indica), the insect damages the mahua as it becomes useless. So, to store mahua in proper condition, Shri Kantibhai Taral, uses one kilogram dry leaves of banyan tree (Ficus benghalensis). As these leaves are uniformly mixed with the mahua before preserving. As to maintain good proportion, one kilogram dry leaves are required to store twenty kilograms of mahua. Other people are also using wheat straws as a medium of preservative. It is a traditional practice and has been in use from the last 15 years.
