Details

Category Crop Pest & Disease Management
Scout HBN
Details Of Innovation Swetha Reddy found that the chemical reaction of blue-green algae with soil kills pests. Pests are a major problem for the farmer, and though pesticides and fertilizers seem effective initially, the pests gradually develop a resistance to pesticides. Ms. Swetha has come up with a process that can kill pests: blue-green algae is mixed in the soil to stimulate the growth of plants. When the pests come to attack the plants, they immediately die due to the chemical reactions that go on in the blue, green algae which are harmful to pests but not to humans.
