Details Of Innovation	Farmer Bavubhai Aapabhai from Bhavnagar district of Gujarat informs that aphids attack cotton (Gossypium herbaceum) crop at the flowering and fruiting stages. The pest sucks the life out of leaves and flowers and destroys the plant. The pest is green, white, or black in color and very tiny in size. It is usually seen more in cloudy weather. For controlling the pest, Bavubhai slightly heats about one kg fleshy leaves of agave (Agave americana) and crushes them to get the juice extract. He then mixes 200 gm extract in 10 L of water and sprays this medicine on the cotton crop. Three pumps are sprayed per 0.25 ha, which controls 90% of the pest in 12 hours. He has been using this method for more than one decade and has noticed no side-effects.
