Details Of Innovation	Madhubhai Jadhavbhai from Bhavnagar district of Gujarat has found that cotton (Gossypium herbaceum) plants do not thrive well in saline soil. To reduce the salinity, he cultivates castor (Ricinus communis) seeds with cotton seeds at the time of sowing. Castor plant is known to break any type of soil and reduce its salinity. This method also enables the cotton plants to grow. When castor plants reach a certain height, Madhibhai uproots these and leaves the cotton plants to grow.
