| Details Of Innovation | According to the information given by farmer Makwana Balabhai Dodhabhai, plenty of green worms are seen when the cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) crop is two to three months old. During September and October, or when the moisture content in the atmosphere is high, green worms attack and damage the cotton crop more. These worms eat up the first fruits of the crop and make holes in the leaves. As a result, growth is stunted. To control green worm menace, mix the paste of the leaves of one-kilogram custard apple (Annona squamosa), one-kilogram aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis), and one-kilogram jatropha (Jatropha curcus) in a vessel with one-liter of water and boil. Then, fill the pump with 100 to 150 milliliters of the resulting solution and spray it on the cotton field. This will control Heliothis within ten to15 days. There is no harmful side-effect to this treatment. This method has been in use for the last ten years. |
