Details Of Innovation Heliothis is green in colour and frequently afflicts the crop. It consumes the leaves and fruits and causes extensive damage to the crop. To control heliothis infestation, use 500 g flour of pearl millet (Pennisetum typhoides), which is mixed in 15 L water. This mixture is stored for 20 days in the fresh dung heap. The prepared mixture is filtered. In 15 L of water, 10 ml mixture is added and sprinkled on the affected groundnut (Arachis hypogaea) and castor (Ricinus communis) crop. This treatment effectively controls the heliothis infestation. It is a traditional method learnt from forefathers and has been in use from the last 10 years.
