| Details Of Innovation | Heliothis is green in colour and frequently afflicts the crop. It consumes the leaves and fruits and causes extensive damage to the crop. To control heliothis infestation, use 500 g flour of pearl millet (Pennisetum typhoides), which is mixed in 15 L water. This mixture is stored for 20 days in the fresh dung heap. The prepared mixture is filtered. In 15 L of water, 10 ml mixture is added and sprinkled on the affected groundnut (Arachis hypogaea) and castor (Ricinus communis) crop. This treatment effectively controls the heliothis infestation. It is a traditional method learnt from forefathers and has been in use from the last 10 years. |
