| Details Of Innovation | Cumin seed (Cuminum Cyminum) seeds are scattered all over the field. This is a useful method that ensures that seeds are buried in the ground. However, severak seeds may remain above the ground, and when the field is watered, they may also be washed away to one location. The growth of all these seeds at one location results in improper growth and causes loss to the farmer. Using small branches of spunge tree (Prosopis Cineraria) or tooth brush tree (Salvadora persica), helps to solve this problem. Tying some pieces of stones to their ends increases their weight, and one person can easily drag them around, ensuring that the seeds are buried well into the ground. The work is done faster and the farmer stands to gain. This implement is, no doubt, a novel one, but one that has been devised by his father after a lot of thought. They are growing cumin seeds (cuminum cyminum) for the past 7-8 years. The farmer's father had to employ at least three people from his own household to take care of this job. This was also an incentive for him to come up with a suitable solution. He learnt this method from his father and it is used by all farmers in the village. |
