Details Of Innovation Nilgay causes much harm to the small chikoo (sapota) plants. It eats the delicate stems and leaves. It takes a long time for new growth in such plants. Nilgay causes more harm especially in those trees from which milk comes out. It causes harm to the crops generally during the night. To prevent this, excreta of cow is taken in a bucket and water is added to it and then this mixture is sprinkled with the help of a broom on the leaves and stem of the plant. The bad odor keeps the Nilgay away. In this way, the sprinkling of this mixture is done after a period of 20-25 days regularly for 1 and half years. The nilgay stays away and the chikoo (Sapota) plant remains unharmed. In this practice, care needs to be taken that the mixture should be thin and it should be sprinkled on the leaves and stems of the plant especially on the top portion, otherwise the whole plant woudl be covered and this would impact photosynthesis.
