| Details Of Innovation | Farmer follows a unique procedure to increase the production of papaya (Carica papaya). The papaya seedling is uprooted and sown at a different spot. The seedling is once more uprooted after 15 days and planted again at the same spot. This procedure causes a decrease in the height of the plant and finally results in the growth of the reproductive phase. Thereby the plant yields more fruit. |

| PAS 1 | "Excessive vegetativegrowth adversely affects fruit setting while excessive fruit load reduces development of treecanopy. Skillful orchard management at this stage includes maintenance of optimum number of bearing branches as per the nutritional status and health of plant. Young trees tends tohave more vegetative growth, therefore, it has been observed that sometimes fruit productionis suppressed by excessive vegetative flushing particularly during autumn. Therefore, effectivemeasures like ringing, girdling, fostering of winter shoots, use of paclobutrazol, etc. can beapplied for proportional crop production." http://tmnehs.gov.in/writereaddata/Chap-8.pdf |
