Details Of Innovation	Farmer uses the leaves of Khakhra or bastard teak (Butea monosperma) in the field where maize has been sown. The germination of maize is delayed when there is less rainfall. To retain the moisture in the soil, the leaves of bastard teak are spread in the field. These leaves retain the moisture in the soil and induce quicker germination in the maize seeds. Later on, the leaves decompose to form organic manure for the maize crop and deter the termites' attack on the crop. The leaves are thus spread throughout the season in the field as they serve many purposes.
