Details

Category Crop Pest & Disease Management
Scout HBN
Ingredients A piece of goatskin, an earthen pitcher and a tail feather of a male peacock.
Details Of Innovation People in Rajasthan make a special device called ghunku to get rid of birds. They take a piece of goatskin with a hole in its center and place it over the mouth of an earthen pitcher. Then they insert a tail feather of a male peacock inside the hole and make a knot at its lower end. The goatskin is then tied to the pitcher. This is called a ghunku. It is placed between the feet, and the feather is tweaked with the help of the thumb and forefinger. A loud sound is generated, which is effective in keeping away birds.
