| Details Of Innovation | The adult fly attacks the newly developed immature fruits of ber (Zizyphus jujuba) crop and damages the fruits at larval stage by feeding inside the fruit. As a result, the fruit is bored and completely damaged. To cure, use of holy basil (Ocimum sanctum) plant for the control of insects and adult flies in the ber (Zizyphus jujuba) crop. The holy basil (Ocimum sanctum) plants are grown at a distance of 2 ft from the ber tree. As a result, the smell of holy basil plant attracts the adult flies and they suck the sap from the basil plant. This results in sterile adult insects and they are not able to reproduce. Thus, further generation of these flies are ceased and the fruits of ber crop remain unaffected. |
