Ingredients The leaves of teak (Tectona grandis) or Bastard teak (Butea monosperma) and a string.
Details Of Innovation Bhils farmer use teak leaves to scare birds away. They tie the teak leaves,Tectona grandis or Bastard teak (Butea monosperma) to a string to make a festoon of dry leaves. Another string connects this festoon at a mid-point. A man sits on a machan or raised platform and jerks the string. Such a device is called a halan. The noise produced by the dry leaves keeps the birds at bay. Yet another system practiced by the Bhils is metallic bells, which are locally called tokra instead of leaves.
