At the time of sowing or germination in sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum), the infestation of ants and white larvae is seen. Nanubhai Becharbhai Mavani from Sanosara village of Bhavnagar district uses the extract of onion (Allium cepa) to control ants and white larvae in sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum). Before planting the chips of sugarcane, they are treated with the extract of onion (Allium cepa). In addition , while irrigating the crop, about 20 kilogram onion per bigha land is filled in a gunny bag and crushed. This crushed onion bag is kept in the water flowing inside the field. Thus, the extract reaches the entire field, repelling the pests.
