| Details Of Innovation | To control the stem borers, extract of stembark of "limbara" tree is used. To prepare this extract, take 1.5 kg stem bark and put it in 10 L water, boil it to make a total of 8 L solution. Boiled solution becomes red in colour. This solution is sprayed on one acre of paddy (Oryza sativa) or finger millet (Elusice coracana) crop. In case of less infestation, single spray can control the pest. The result are clearly visible within three to four days. The second spray should be done if needed to control the residual pest. Tree of "limbara" (Melia composita ) is dark green in colour similar to the neem tree but the leaves are slightly broad. Flowers are whitish yellow in colour and the seeds are bigger compared to theneem seeds. These are sparsely distributed in the forest. |
