| Details Of Innovation | Farmers in Assam have developed an indigenous method for controlling fruit-borer and other insect pests infesting lemon (Citrus limon) and other plants of the citrus family. They use the left over water from washing fish for spraying on crops. The farmers believe that the foul smell of fish-water keeps the pests away from crops. (In many parts of Gujarat, farmers use fish water to treat foot-and-mouth disease in animals - editor). |
