| Details Of Innovation | Laljibhai Karsanbhai Ramani knew that it was difficult for the workers to keep a separate thresher for each crop. He thus came up with the idea to build a multipurpose thresher. Hisprototype can not only separate the chaff from the wheat but also the hull from the seed of castor and the pod from groundnut, among other seeds. This prototype can peel and separate different seeds from pods and cobs. Besides, hitherto two to three people were needed to pull an ox for threshing work. At present, farmers are using carts and tyres for the same job. But now Laljibhais thresher operated by one worker can clean up corn, millet, wheat, jowar and other crop harvests, one after the other. This apart, groundnut and castor pods can also be removed easily. One can electrify this thresher by attaching a motor. The length of Laljibhais thresher is 4.25 ft by 3 ft by 4.25 ft. He has not only developed the multifunction thresher but has been using it for the past two decades. He says it is designed to meet the needs of farmers. To start this thresher, an oil engine or electric motor is required. With one thresher, the farmer can clean up grain of different crops. |
