| PAS 1 | Significant increase in skin breaking strength, granuloma breaking strength, wound contraction, hydroxyl proline content and dry granuloma weight and decreased in epithelization period was observed. A supportive study made on granuloma tissue to estimate the levels of catalase and superoxide-dismutase recorded a significant increase in the level of these antioxidant enzymes. Granuloma tissue was subjected to histopathological examination to determine the pattern of lay-down for collagen using Van Gieson and Masson Trichome strains. Enhanced wound healing activity may be due to free radical scavenging action of the plant and the enhanced level of antioxidant enzymes in granuloma tissue. | PAS 2 | The leaves of Alangium salviifolium are used as astringent, laxative, refrigerant. it is used for the treatment of rheumatism, leprosy, gastric ulcers, Wound healing, epilepsy, scabies, gonorrhoea, jaundice, hepatitis, diabetes, syphilis and asthma. The root bark is used as purgative, astringent, anthelmintic, antipyretic, expectorant, anti-inflammatory, emetic, diaphoretic, anticancer, antimicrobial and antitumor agents. The root is used as hypotensive agent, anthelmintic and used in the treatment of biliousness, inflammation, diarrhoea, piles, paralysis, vomiting, skin diseases and snakebite. The bark shows anti tubercular activity. The fruits are used as laxative, refrigerant, emetic and ant phlegmatic agent, whereas the seeds are used in haemorrhage, leprosy. Stem is used in vomiting and diarrhoea. | PAS 3 | Due to amplified acceptance and use of traditional plants, stringent scientific validation studies are being carried out worldwide, to develop evidence based phyto-medications. Alangium salviifolium is an excellent medicinal plant which holds numerous bioactive phytochemicals. Evidence based scientific studies have been reported against hypertension, diabetes, epilepsy, cancer, inflammation, ulcer, etc. Various plant parts have been found to possess biological activity more specifically towards overcoming metabolic ailments. Mere scientific evidences of activity of the extracts will not create the solutions, rather studies should focus on developing contemporary formulations after extensive analysis of its bioactivity, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, safety, etc. using appropriate animal models followed by clinical trials. Substantial research has already been conducted on this plant during last few decades, which can be used by scientists in developing useful therapeutic solution from Alangium salviifolium. | PAS 4 | Alangium salvifolium (Linn. F) Wang. is a small deciduous tree or shrub, which grow in the wild throughout the hotter parts of the India. It belongs to the family Alangiaceae. It is used as laxative, astringent, pungent, anthelminthic, purgative, and emetic, anti protozoal, hypoglycaemic activity, anti-diabetic and for anti-ulcer activity. The plant was also reported as antifungal activity, anti-diabetic activity, antioxidant, antimicrobial activity, cardiac activity and anti-fertility activity. This activity of the plant possess due to the important phytochemical constituents like flavonoids, saponins, glycosides, alkaloids and steroids etc. [Jasvir et al. / Alangium salviifolium (Linn.
