| PAS 1 | The plant literature survey shows the plant possesses astringent, cooling, stimulant, diuretic, aphrodisiac, demulcent, and tonic effects and also helps in dysentery. It also possesses important pharmacological activity such as aphrodisiac, anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective activity in addition to anticancer and anti-HIV activity, anti-Helicobacter pylori, antiangiogenic, analgesic and antioxidant activity and hypotensive, hypoglycemic and antimicrobial activity. It is reported to contain important phytoconstituents such as naphthol, naphthoquinones, polysaccharides, anthocyanins, shamimin and lupeol. [ Karole et al. Pharmacognostic and Pharmacological Profile of Bombax Ceiba, AJPER July-September 2017, Vol 6, Issue 3 (16-27)] http://www.ajper.com/admissets/article_issue/1503166432.pdf |
| PAS 2 | Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper belongs to the family Papilionaceae. It is an erect hairy annual plant with long twining branches. The flowers are small and yellow in color, while fruits are cylindrical. The pods are hairy containing 1-4 seeds per pod. Seeds are used as nervine tonic and in urinary reflex disorder. The phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids, vitamin C and steroids. Seeds possess antidiabetic, antioxidant and hypolipidemic properties. Hepper. 9. 1307-1309.] https://www.researchgate.net/publication/339165757_A_review_of_medicinal_uses_phytochemistry_and_pharmacology_of_Vigna_mungo_L_Hepper 49. PAS 2 “ Neem Leaves boiled in marking nut oil and the oil is applied on the fore-leg joint arch of the cattle suffering form black quarter disease. 2. A piece of neem stick is inserted into the palatal foramen of the cattle suffering form glossitis” [Misra, Malaya & Das, Sudhansu. (1998). Veterinary use of plants among tribales of orissa. | PAS 3 | Azadirachta indica, a member of the Meliaceae family, is commonly known as neem and its role in disease cure has been documented. Different parts of this tree contain numerous types of ingredients such as azadirachtin and quercetin and limonoids such as nimbin, nimbidin, and nimbinin with diverse pharmacological activities. Neem tree parts have also been used as a general folk medicine, and more recently, its constituents have been purified and found to possess greater antioxidant, hepatoprotective, antimicrobial, and anticancerous activities. Moreover, its constituents also show therapeutic implications in the modulation of cell signaling pathways involved in the management of cancer. Moreover, neem and its ingredient might be a potential candidate in prevention and treatment of tumor due to its broader pharmacological activities.[ Rahmani, Arshad. (2018). Pharmacological and Therapeutic Potential of Neem (Azadirachta indica). Pharmacognosy Reviews. Vol 12. 250-255. 10.4103/phrev.phrev_8_18.] https://www.researchgate.net/publication/328233489_Pharmacological_and_Therapeutic_Potential_of_Neem_Azadirachta_indica/citation/download |
| PAS 4 | Earlier finding confirmed that neem and its constituents play role in the scavenging of free radical generation and prevention of disease pathogenesis. The studies based on animal model established that neem and its chief constituents play pivotal role in anticancer management through the modulation of various molecular pathways including p53, pTEN, NF-κB, PI3K/Akt, Bcl-2, and VEGF. It is considered as safe medicinal plants and modulates the numerous biological processes without any adverse effect.[ Alzohairy MA. Therapeutics Role of Azadirachta indica (Neem) and Their Active Constituents in Diseases Prevention and Treatment. | PAS 5 | The phytochemical such as Azadirachtin, Nimbidin, Nimbin, Nimbinin, Nimbidinin, Nimbolide, Nimbidic acid, Nimbidin and Sodium Nimbidate derived from the Neem plant poses variety of pharmacological effects such as antipyretic, antiviral, analgesic, antibacterial, contraceptive and hepatoprotective effect and many more.
