Community Practices "Maganbhai Patel of Mehsana district of Gujarat suggests a solution to relive animals suffering from foot and mouth disease. Since it affects mainly the hooves of the animals, he recommends that the affected animals be made to walk on hot sand. Sometimes the animals are tied on the hot sand floor. Patel believes that the organisms responsible for this disease, which live in the hooves of the animals, are killed because of the heat during the treatment. "
