During the field observation, five plants were found different from that of other plants, which had six to seven grains in one pod, were dwarf in height and matured within 100 days. In the next year, one row of this selected plants seeds were grown in between two rows of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea) crop. This gave higher yield of pigeonpea and also matured within 100 days.
