Disease Description Rabies is a zoonotic disease that is caused by a virus and characterized by acute encephalitis in warm blooded animal. Mostly occurs in dogs without rabies vaccination.The disease infects domestic and wild animals, and is spread to people through close contact with infected saliva via bites or scratches. Dogs are source of 99% of human rabies cases. Once symptoms of the disease develop, rabies is nearly always fatal. Louis pasteur is the first person to diagnose rabies and found vaccine against rabies.
