| Ingredients | Incense sticks/‘palamaram’ (Wrightia tinctoria) leaves. |
| Details Of Innovation | Unripened banana bunches are piled in a vessel and ‘oothupathi’, (incense sticks) are lit inside the vessel. The lid of the vessel is then closed. The bananas will generally ripen in about 12 hours under such a method. In another method to encourage early ripening, the unripened banana bunches are covered with ‘palamaram’ (Wrightia tinctoria) leaves for a day. |

Industrial-grade calcium carbide usually contains traces of arsenic and phosphorus, and, thus, use of this chemical for this purpose is illegal in most countries." http://agritech.tnau.ac.in/horticulture/fruit_ripening.pdf (Dated: 14/5/2020) |
| PAS 3 | Ethylene production rose climacterically both in leaf blades and leaf petioles with or without abscission zones (Figs. 2 and 3). In both pinto bean and tobacco leaves, rates of ethylene production were markedly higher in the blades than in the petioles. These findings suggest that the increase in ethylene in leaves is not restricted to the abscission zone but is characteristic of the general process of leaf senescence. However, differences between tobacco and pinto bean with respect to the rates of ethylene production by segments along the petioles support the idea that ethylene does participate in the abscission process. http://www.plantphysiol.org/content/plantphysiol/64/5/796.full.pdf |
