Community Practices "He cleans the area of the broken horn with thunnetri pachilai juice. If there is any bleeding, he dusts the area with a powder made out of bark of Calotropis gigantea. He replaces the broken horn in the original position and ties it for two hours. Around the place of the break, he rubs an ointment made of carbon deposits, lime powder and jaggery. Disease Horn breakage
Disease Description The fracture of horn is a very painful condition. If the base of the horn is fractured, there is considerable bleeding exposing the trabeculae. There were nasal discharges from the same side of horn fracture, as the frontal and nasal cavities communicate with each other in these species.
Management Practices Clean and disinfect the exposed horn core. Protect it with an antiseptic pad and bandage. Administration of antibiotics to provide protection against secondary bacterial infection
