Cryptolepis buchanani (Ganglong, family Asclepiadaceae) is a climbing tree widely used in folk medicine in Southeast Asia. Also its root, stem, and leaves are used for the treatment of bone fracture by tribal people in Arunachal Pradesh. It shows antibacterial, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and chondroprotective activities. Marsh and Li studied Harjor was Chopra who showed in 1932 that experimentally induced fracture in dog was healed faster by giving Harjor through oral route.

Disease Description
|
A bone fracture is a medical condition in which there is a partial or complete break in the continuity of the bone. In more severe cases, the bone may be broken into several pieces. A bone fracture may be the result of high force impact or stress, or a minimal trauma injury as a result of certain medical conditions that weaken the bones, such as osteoporosis, osteopenia, bone cancer, or osteogenesis imperfecta, where the fracture is then properly termed a pathologic fracture.

Management Practices

Other treatment of bone fracture includes , Splints – to stop movement of the broken limb. Braces – to support the bone. Plaster cast – to provide support and immobilise the bone. Traction – a less common option. Surgically inserted metal rods or plates – to hold the bone pieces together. Pain relief.
