| Details Of Innovation | Method of Mulching Banana: After harvesting a banana bunch, pseudostem is applied as manure for banana and also for sugarcane. For robusta banana, 10 tonnes of compost and sugar cane trashes are applied for 3 times as mulch for 1 ft . Once in 15 days irrigation is done. Due to this method weed growth is suppressed. Water holding capacity of this soil, soil fertility and earthworm population increases. Within 12 months banana bunch is harvested because of this mulching practice. Sugarcane For sugarcane, 10 tonnes of decompost farmyard manure is applied. For rattoon crop, 6 tonnes of decompost farmyard manure is applied. Banana pseudostem is also applied as mulch. Paddy For paddy, green leaves are used as mulch. Sunhemp is sown and ploughed as green manure. |
