| Details Of Innovation | Arshibhai Bhanabhai Vala of Sarakhadi village of Kodinar taluka of Junagadh district, uses sea-weed. According to farmer, 2 kg sea- weed is washed with clean water, dried and pounded. Then the sea- weed is boiled in 3 L of water till it is reduced to half. Due to boiling, solution becomes thick, sticky and releases bad smell. Then it is filtered with hemp. After cooling, it is again filtered with thin cloth. As experienced by farmer, 250 ml of prepared solution is added to 10 L water. If this mixture is sprayed at the blossoming stage of particular crops like brinjal (Solanum melongena), chilli (Capsicum annuum) and tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum), it stops dropping of flowers, and plant develops well. Suppose the crop is suffering from curling disease, then spray two times at the interval of 10 days to stop the curling disease. As per last 3 years of experience to farmer, due to this method, yield increases to 10 per cent. Inspite of dry sea-weed, fresh and green sea-weed is more useful and effective. Fresh sea-weed is only available in the monsoon to "Diwali" time. Shri. Vijay Shah from Rayan village of Kutch district got good results by using sea-weed as a treatment. |
