Higher Crop Yield in Water-Scarcity Area

Ingredients plastic bag, water
Details Of Innovation For the areas having scant rainfall or water scarcity, Rameshbhai Parghi, a farmer from Sabarkantha district of Gujarat has developed an interesting method of irrigating the fields, similar to that of modern drip irrigation method. He takes strong plastic bags capable of holding water and fills each bag with 1 L water. He then makes a few tiny holes in the bags and ties these with the stem of each plant near the root zone. The holes allow the water to drip slowly. By this method, efficient use of water for irrigation is achieved. The method best suits the cotton crop and gives higher production. It is a self-developed method.
