Practice Name:

Wind Direction Affects Crops

Details

Category Crop Pest & Disease Management
Scout HBN
Details Of Innovation Farmers often do not take into consideration the direction of wind when they purchase land. Wind blowing from the West affects crops adversely. On the contrary, wind blowing from the North and the East is not harmful to crops. Hence the purchased land should have hills to the west to prevent wind blowing from that direction. Or the farmers can plant windbreak trees on the western border of the field. Mango trees should receive sunlight from the East and the West, but they should be protected from winds coming from the western side with a windbreak.
