Details Of Innovation It is their traditional business to make cylindrical drums of bamboo. Bamboo (Bambosa bambas) are cut to chips and then weaved vertically and horizontally to make a cylindrical drum. Drum so weaved is then placed at proper place. Husk of paddy (Oryza sativa) or finger millet (Eleusine coracana) is filled at the base and then covered with jute bag and leaves of bastard teak (Butea monosperma). Food grains are then filled on to it. Covered the grains with same leaves and then plaster it with mixture of mud and cow dung. This method is used to store food grains like paddy and finger millet and pulses. This is traditional method and is used even today in tribal areas for storage of food grains. Compared to other methods of storage, bamboo drums are durable and cost effective.
