| Details Of Innovation | To prevent termite attack on trees, care should be taken at the plantation stage itself. Dig a pit in the summer season and allow it to get solarized for the whole of the summer. Before starting of the monsoon, enough ash is added to the pit. Mix the ash well with the soil. It is only after this preparation that the sapling of a tree is planted in the monsoon season. This largely prevents the attack by termites as the sapling grows into a tree. Plantation of teak (Tectona grandis), comb tree (Gmelina arborea), bamboo (Bambusa bambos) and neem (Azadirachta indica) trees by this method gives positive results. This is a traditional method. |
