The State-of-the-Art Solar Air Heater (SAH) is an advanced innovation designed to significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of drying processes for agricultural products. It incorporates enhanced heat transfer technology using rotating spiral-shaped baffles on the absorber plate, which optimizes airflow disruption and boosts thermal performance beyond conventional drying methods. With a peak output of 156.78 W, the SAH achieves remarkable thermohydraulic, thermal, and exergy efficiencies through an optimized design. Evaluated using a 4E framework (Energy, Exergy, Exergoeconomic, and Enviroeconomic analysis), the system demonstrates superior energy efficiency, economic viability, and environmental benefits, offering sustainable energy production at a cost of just 0.36 kWh/$ and contributing to significant CO2 reduction.
Environmentally friendly and scalable, the SAH minimizes energy consumption and drying time, preserving the nutritional value of agricultural products. Currently employed in Moringa Leaf Powder production at the Gujarat Power Engineering & Research Institute, it enhances drying efficiency and supports sustainability. Its economic viability and low-maintenance design make it ideal for both small and industrial-scale operations. The system ensures precise drying conditions, resulting in improved product quality, extended shelf life, and potential for premium pricing. Overall, the SAH provides an innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective drying solution that supports eco-friendly, energy-efficient agriculture.
