At the time of groundnut harvesting, the soil clods, small stones, and other materials from the earth are anchored to the pods. Clearing this manually takes time, and good results are not obtained. To overcome this setback, Janakbhai developed a destoner machine to separate soil and other materials attached to the pods. This device can clean soil from 120 to 140 kg of ground nuts in just 1 hour. It consumes just 2 to 2.5 l of diesel per hour. It does not require any parts replacement and hence has low maintenance. It needs to be greased regularly and can be attached to a tractor. It can also be carried anywhere. This device cleans the pods properly without any damage to the seeds and hence helps farmers to get good rates of ground nuts. Janakbhai has produced and sold many destoner machines so far. His innovation was recognized by many farmers and was appreciated. He also presented his innovation at IIC’s People’s Festival of Innovation through GIAN.
